Award Group Information

The Hutz Award Group was setup on the 17th November 1998.

We currently have 12 members and 3 regular leaders. There are 11 people working towards there Bronze award and 1 working towards their Silver.

The Award Group is based in a community hall "Hutz" in Uphall/Broxburn, 10 miles West of Edinburgh in Scotland

We meet every Tuesday at 7.30pm.

News

Our fastest award came after only one week of the group starting. After discussion with Alex on the first week of meeting it was found that even though he had left his previous award group without being awarded his Bronze certificate he had completed all the relevant sections and just needed the record book signed. The next week this was done and his award presented to him by Peter Wright, Lothian Area Award Co-ordinator.

The group has been going from strength to strength with 13 members

Canoing expeditions are to go ahead in late August.

Current Award Information

Expeditions

Bronze
Our first expeditions will be taking place in late August with nine people canoeing and three cycling. It has been great to try out other forms of expedition transport other than feet, which seems to be the norm. The canoe training has been great under the supervision of Andrew Jamieson, a Kayak Senior Instructor. Who is fast becoming a great asset to the group for a multitude of activities. The young people have warmed to his professional approach and have gained a great deal of confidence in themselves, overcoming fears of water and boats. The other aspects of the expedition training have taken place during the winter and spring months with Tim Wright passing on his knowledge and skills.
Silver
Due to only having a single Silver member the aim is to include him in an open Silver or to tie into some local groups to assemble a group.
Gold
Currently we have no members attempting their Gold Award
